Segovia, Castile and León – Spain.
The church of San Martín is a fine sample of Castilian Romanesque art from the 12th century. Defined by a triple arcade of columns, three apses and a mudejar tower occupying the space of the dome, covered by a baroque roof.
The statue of Juan Bravo is facing the church of San Martin at Plaza Medina del campo. Juan Bravo (John the Brave 1483-1521) was the leader of the rebel army that is known as Comuneros in the Castilian War of the Communities. The Revolt of the Comuneros was an uprising by citizens of Castile against the rule of Charles V and his administration between 1520 and 1521.
